Coronation Street fans across the country have been left distraught as Rana Habeeb bowed out of the soap, tragically losing her life in the factory roof collapse.
Wednesday nights double bill saw the character, played by Bhavna Limbachia, succumb to her injuries in tear-jerking scenes which saw her marry her fiancee Kate Connor (Faye Brookes) before her death.
It followed weeks of speculation that Rana would be killed off in the factory roof collapse following the news that the actress was leaving the soap – and that the disaster would claim a major character.
But just how did Rana come to be in the factory on what was her wedding day – and how did she die?
Heres what happened…
Despite it being her wedding day, Rana was in the factory at the time of the roof collapse as she had left the wedding rings in the office and returned to collect them.
While there she was trapped under the rubble when the roof caved in, with paramedics rushing to get to her, and Kate also rushing to the factory as they raced to free her.
However as Kate arrived another section of the roof collapsed, landing on top of Rana, and leaving her facing the possibility that she could die.
Kate rushed into the factory to be with her, and in emotional scenes the pair recited their wedding vows and exchanged rings – with Rana passing away in Kates arms as soon as she learned they were married.
The episode ended with Kate sobbing as she cradled Ranas body in her arms.
The actress has not given an official reason for leaving, but its been reported she made the decision to leave to focus on other projects.
Bhavna, who has been in the soap for three years, broke the news to her fans in a Twitter announcement back in January.
